[Rwanda] I&M Bank seeks to grow customer portfolio with riches campaign

As banks in Rwanda looks to more ways of growing their customer portfolio, technology has come in handy while assisting them cut the cost of doing business.

I&M bank in a bid to harness the power of technology has launched Kira campaign which translate to I&M riches campaign an account opening and electronic services usage drive.

The campaign which will run for three months will be carried out across the country with the focus on retail, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) customers. Customers within these segments who open accounts during the campaign period, will not only receive free additional services including free visa cards, free online and mobile banking but will also stand a chance to win weekly cash prizes and a grand prize all totaling up to $20000.

According to the bank’s executive director and division head for business development, Faustin Byishimo, the bank is aiming at making sure that the new customers and old ones know the firm’s electronic delivery channels such as e-banking, e-water, visa cards and use them more.

“We will be able to advertise and promote our products and services. We want them to be known by everyone, we therefore remind our clients to use them,” Byishimo said.

“Rwanda’s target is to transform the country into a cashless economy. We will continue investing in this area to ensure that adequate products that meet customer’s banking requirement and expectations are developed,” he added.

To participate in the promotion, interested salaried individuals or business owners have to visit the nearest I&M Bank branch and register their interest by completing an account opening form or registering for one of the eligible add-on services.
