[Nigeria] Jumia Market hosts participants from the Lagos tech tour

To demonstrate its commitment to the human capital development of students and tech enthusiasts, Africa’s largest marketplace Jumia Market, welcomed participants from the Stutern Lagos Tech tours to its facility on the 7^thof December 2016.

The tour took the participants through the different ventures in the Jumia group; highlighting the unique selling point of each while discussing the business model from operations to marketing and supply. The one hour and thirty minutes tour started at Jumia Market, moved to Jumia Food and ended at Jumia travel with each participant (made up of students, early career bloggers and prospective interns) feeling fulfilled by the business structure.

Speaking during the tour, Head of Operations, Jumia Market Quentin Alias said. “Jumia Market empowers thousands of transactions every day, our range of assortment touches on the key segments of human needs. The platform holds thousands of products and serves as a source of income of income for various stakeholder group from students to entrepreneurs”.

Also speaking about the tour, Stutern Lagos tech tour co-founder Taiwo Ayanleye said.  “The number and quality of companies reviewed shows how the Nigerian landscape is growing rapidly and this tech tour has been a perfect opportunity to discover companies, discuss access to capital, analyse best practices, discuss internship opportunities and to keep building a solid ecosystem for technological transformation in Nigeria’.

Earlier during the day, the participants were treated to presentations from some of the top stakeholders companies in the Nigerian technology ecosystem from marketplaces to programming companies. The companies, both early and growth stage were carefully selected by a dedicated expert selection committee and the participants toured companies such as Andela, CC-Hub, Lead Space, Hotelsng and Café Neo before ending the tour at the Jumia group.
