[Nigeria] International Graduate School offers N1mn for Essay on Solution to Recession

The Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies, an international graduate school based in Lagos, is organising a public interest essay for Nigerians to analyse the prevailing economic crisis and proffer solutions.

The competition, themed: Nigerian Recession: Diagnosis and Prognosis, will see winners walk away with N1 million cash prize.

A statement by Funke Fajusigbe, CIAPS' head of events and projects, said the essay was aimed at encouraging fact-based analysis as part of the centre's contribution towards building a knowledge-based society.

The CIAPS welcomes entries from anyone with interest in and knowledge of the Nigerian Economy and recession and will be judged by officials of the centre in collaboration with a selected panel of economic experts, operators and observers.

The panelists include political economist and founder Centre for Value and Leadership, Pat Utomi; a former World Bank Vice President, Africa, Oby Ezekwesili; economist Henry Boyo and President of Nigerian Institute of Management, Munzali Jibril.

Five top essays will be selected for prizes and publications, with N500, 000 for best entry, N250,000 for second place, N150,000 for third place, while the fourth and fifth runners-up are to receive N50,000 each, Mrs. Fajusigbe said.

All entries are to be submitted with a cover note containing a brief biography of the writer at www.ciaps.org  not later than 12:00 a.m. on November 29, 2016.
