New Airline, Wawjet, set to begin operations in West Africa

One new start-up airline featured in the listings at the World Routes Forum in Durban, South Africa this week – and it is set to begin operations in West Africa.

The airline is called Wawjet and will operate from Conkary. Guinea.

According to sources at the event, the new airline will offer international flights within the region although details were scarce about the airline’s plans.
It is understood that the new airline is the brainchild of the executive director of Probiz Guinee the Conakry based-ground handling, aircraft charter, FBO operator and transport services company, Alpha Diallo  (pictured right)

Routesonline – part of the event organiser – said founder and chief executive officer, Diallo confirmed that the carrier “will fly in West Africa” but its proposed network and “cities are not finalised yet”.
It is understood the airline will to be based at Gbessia International Airport in Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea.

According to Diallo, WawJet will operate with Classic Boeing 737 aircraft – most likely -300 and -400 variants and it is thought to currently be sourcing aircraft ahead of its formal launch. No schedule for its final development has been revealed.

“This company has been created with two key objectives: to change the lifestyle of many people and to contribute to the growth of the West African economy” Routesonline reported Diallo as saying. “WawJet will base its activity on fundamental values: be Different but be Simple in order to respond to the needs of the African population.”
