London School of Marketing access point thriving in Ghana

London School of Marketing’s Ghanaian regional centre is thriving more than two years after being established.

The regional centre, also referred to as a Local Access Point (LAP), was established in February 2013 and has gone from strength to strength.

Since its creation, the LAP in Accra has seen almost 50 students graduate with British marketing qualifications.

These internationally recognised qualifications have enabled many of the graduates to further their careers in some of the world’s largest companies.

For many of the students, London School of Marketing’s LAP has provided them with a high quality British education that they would not have otherwise had access to.

Also the quality of the course has benefited many of the graduates, as the face-to-face support offered by the centre has significantly improved the success rate.

The online courses allow students to gain practical management and marketing skills which they can implement in their day to day activities.

This has a positive impact not only on their local community but also the service they provide to the community in their respective job roles.

For Anton Dominique, Chief Marketing Officer at London School of Marketing, the Ghanaian LAP has proved a great success for the institution.

He commented: “We looked at demographic factors of that country, such as GDP per capita, poverty Index, GDP growth, outbound students to Europe, enrolment in tertiary education per 10,000 population and identified the Ghana as one of the most attractive countries.

“We work with each LAP to mutually agree on achievable numbers to refer per intake.

“The advances in e-learning are fantastic but the learning of life skills is just as important as academic rigmarole.

“A purely ‘individualised’ education, exemplified by traditional Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), misses the point that we are a collaborative species and are trying to tailor the world to our individual needs.

“This is why we feel the LAP design and development provides more than e-learning. It equips students with skills that are going to be of increasing value in the modern, competitive and increasingly borderless world of working.

“With advances in high speed internet and cloud computing, students from Sri Lanka to Ghana can collaborate on group projects and study together.

“This is a great achievement not only for London School of Marketing but for the Accra and Ghana as well.”
