Kenya Airways partners with Ministry of Tourism to market destination Kenya

Kenya Airways has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism in a bid to market destination Kenya as a top destination across all its flight destinations.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Kenya Airways CEO and Managing Director Mbuvi Ngunze unveiled the Magical Kenya branding on KQ’S Dreamliner, B-787 as part of the marketing and branding strategy that is geared towards boosting the country’s visibility in both traditional and emerging markets.

The branding on KQ aircraft enhances the partnership the airline signed with Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) - the State marketing agency - last year that seeks  to jointly market the destination Kenya in a bid to grow visitors and passenger numbers.

Speaking during the unveiling of Kenya Airway’s “Magical Kenya”-branded Dreamliner 787 aircraft, Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala said that the sector was looking to use the airline’s visibility in potential markets within the region and Asia to drive up tourist numbers.

“We shall identify Kenya Airways offices in select markets to undertake destination branding and equip them with tourist information on travel, hotel bookings and other hotel packages for the potential tourists. Branding plays a key role in increasing destination visibility and with this, the possibility for those who spot this branding to translate it into a decision to travel to Kenya” he said

Kenya Airways Dreamliner 787 aircraft flies to key routes like London, South Africa, Paris and Hong Kong, giving passengers the opportunity to emotionally connect with the destination and make it more memorable.

On his part, Chief Executive Officer Mbuvi Ngunze noted that the partnership underscores the important role that Kenya Airways plays in the national economic development, specifically creating vital linkages between Kenya and the international market, on which tourism and other key sectors depend and thrive.

Mr Ngunze noted that the National carrier will from Friday this week commence its direct flights to Cape Town, South Africa via Livingstone.
