China shows interest in Botswana beef

The Chinese embassy in Botswana on Wednesday said its country pays high attention to Botswana’s request of exporting beef and donkey meat to China.

Briefing the media on Botswana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi’s visit to China, Chinese ambassador to Botswana said Zheng Zhuqiang said relevant authorities of the two countries have already negotiated on this issue and reached some preliminary agreements.

“The two sides shall work together to realize this goal,” said Zhuqiang.

He said China intends to support the Economic Diversification Strategy of Botswana by encourage more Chinese companies in areas of diamond trade and processing, livestock product processing, agricultural products processing, IT and other industries needed for Botswana to invest and conduct cooperation in Botswana.

“During the process of industrialization, Botswana has a huge demand for infrastructure construction, while China has its advantage in capital, technology and equipment. The two sides have mutual interests and shall conduct more cooperation in this area,” said Zhuqiang.
