Adrian Kenya Set to Deliver Fibre Infrastructure Relocation Project
Adrian Kenya, an engineering company that provides technology and infrastructure solutions with operations in Telecommunications, ICT and Energy sectors yesterday held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially launch the Fibre Infrastructure Relocation project along the Nairobi – Mau Summit Road.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jerome Ochieng, PS - State Department of ICT & Innovation, Mr. Lyford Murithi Deputy Director ICT, Mr. Timothy Were Deputy Director ICT and Mr. Benard W. Njoroge Adrian Kenya’s MD and Founder.
Adrian Kenya secured the contract to design, supply, deliver, install, test, commission and maintain the fibre optic cable for the Rironi - Naivasha section (Lot 2) of the Nairobi - Mau Summit Highway. Awarded through the State Department of ICT and Innovation, the project will see the relocation of fibre optic infrastructure ahead of the expansion and construction of the Nairobi - Mau Summit dual carriageway.
With the country witnessing an increase in road construction, utility connections such as power, water as well as fibre cables tend to encounter disconnections hampering access to the much-needed services by citizens during the construction period.
Commenting on the efforts to mitigate this, speaking during the launch, PS Jerome Ochieng said “We’re working as a very coordinated multiagency government unit, involving various ministries, to ensure that when a project commences all stakeholders are brought on board to eliminate disruptions and disconnections. The contractors for this project will be working with a strict timeline of 6 weeks to pave way for the dual carriage that is due to commence in September this year.”
Adrian’s MD Benard W. Njoroge observed that the government has done a commendable job in the construction of road networks in the country, expansion of access to electricity and supporting infrastructure investment in the telecommunications and ICT sectors.
Commenting on the importance of empowering local companies and communities in such infrastructure investments, Benard W. Njoroge said “We are proud as a Kenyan company to be bringing together our engineering and project management expertise to deliver on this project. In our execution, we shall employ approximately 350 youths from the regions where the projects will take place.” He further urged the government and developers to consider local companies as development partners for infrastructure projects.
