Pathways and Konza Technopolis launch data training to empower Kenya's Digital Future

Pathways Technologies a leading data, technology, and innovation company, in collaboration with Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), has announced the launch of specialized training in Data Science and Data Analytics in Kenya.

The training is the first of its kind under the Jitume Program Initiative and will be conducted at the Kabete National Polytechnic.

The initiative stems from a partnership formed in 2023 between Pathway Technologies and KoTDA under the Jitume Program Initiative, a Government initiative aimed at providing access to digital skills, e-services, and online opportunities to the youth across the country. This collaboration aims to provide high-tech training programs to bridge the skills gap and foster economic sustainability and growth.

“We are committed to empowering Kenyan youth with the skills they need to thrive in the innovation age – problem-solving, creativity, and a strong foundation in data science,” said Joel Onditi, CEO of Pathways Technologies. “This initiative is a call to action for all who share our passion for empowering the next generation. By joining forces, we can equip them with cutting-edge technologies and innovative teaching methods, shaping Kenya’s future.”

John Paul Okwiri, CEO of KoTDA, praised Pathways for addressing the growing demand for tech skills in Kenya, aligning with the ambition to position the country as a technology Talent Hub. He highlighted the significance of the training program in providing hands-on experience, practical knowledge, industry-relevant skills, and employment opportunities to empower youths and students to contribute to the digital revolution.

Expressing satisfaction with Kabete National Polytechnic's role as the inaugural Jitume Lab, Okwiri noted the potential of Jitume Digital hubs to create opportunities. The launch of the capacity-building program marks the beginning of adding 50 Data Analytics, Data Science, and software development professionals to Kenya's workforce.

This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving the Jitume Program's goal of equipping one million Kenyan youth with digital skills, paving the way for a brighter, more technologically advanced future for the nation.
