TNW Data appointed as sub-distributor to SMC Networks, Core Networks

SMC Networks South Africa and Core Networks have appointed TNW Data Computer Networking Equipment Division, a Cape-based distributor of network solutions and equipment, as a sub-distributor. Management from all three companies say the alliance will offer the regional market a wider choice of product and the value of a globally recognised brand.

The TNW Data Group is an established distributor of networking equipment, cabling & accessories and electrical product to key industries including mining.

The company incorporates four main divisions including Computer Networking Equipment, Communications Cable and Accessories, Closed Circuit Television Equipment and UPS & Power Related Products.

As a Group TNW Data has been supplying the Western Cape for eight years and continues to show growth.

As part of its business strategy to create partnerships and deliver value through the integration of innovative solutions, TNW Data identified an opportunity to partner with SMC Networks SA and Core Networks to help market and support SMC product within the region.

“SMC is a well-known product, and is strengthened in the market via distributors such as Core Networks. We felt that we could add value in terms of marketing and support was concerned for the product - especially in the Western and Eastern Cape where there has been very little support for the product in the past. With TNW Data being in the networking field for so long we are ideally positioned to market and support the product, also we are dedicated to this regions and concentrate all our efforts here,” explains Schalk Bothma, Managing Director, TNW Data.

SMC Network solutions, particularly product from its range of switches, will form part of the TNW Data Computer Networking Equipment Division’s brand portfolio.

“We will be launching the product with an upcoming launch event and we are currently introducing the product range to our extensive already large customer base in the Eastern and Western Cape. We are confident that we will be able to establish SMC Networking product as one of the leading switching brands in the country,” adds Bothma.

Paul Luff, country manager, SMC Networks SA, says the alliance with TNW Data is “a very exciting development and strategic for SMC and its reach.”

“This is an exciting breakthrough for us, particularly in terms of our reach into the Cape region. SMC Networks is an established and globally recognised brand and we welcome opportunities to form partnerships with distribution partners that have the resources, skills and track record to support our product and encourage greater access. TNW Data is a strategic partner that continues to grow amid a competitive and pressurised channel,” says Luff.

Luff concurs with Bothma and believes the integration of SMC will add immediate value to clients.

“We are certain that our solutions, specifically our range of switching solutions, will meet a need within the region for reliable performance through the application of cost effective, robust and high quality products. Businesses need solutions that deliver, that are easy to integrate, that do not require substantial capital outlay, that can connect seamlessly with existing infrastructure and mostly offer reliable, high performance connectivity. This is where we are positioned and focused, and where this alliance will make a lasting difference,” Luff adds.
