[South Africa] InfiNet Wireless on track to creating future-proofed wireless ecosystems

Until recently, the wireless sector of the telecoms market prioritised the performance increase in base stations and subscriber terminals. Today, however, there has been a shift with research and development (R&D) teams focusing primarily on the optimisation of complete wireless infrastructures as a whole.

“We aim to create a modelled network that comprises several base stations virtually interconnected with a large number of subscriber terminals, an approach which accurately predicts a given solution’s performance within a specific frequency range, in various environmental conditions and for all scenarios of spectrum availability,” saysDmitry Okorokov, Chief Executive Officer, InfiNet Wireless.

“Our experts know perfectly well that a good wireless design is not just about assembling state-of-the-art components in an appropriate enclosure, but more about ensuring the efficient processing of data streams and never encountering bottlenecks along their route in any part of network.”

The solutions are also continuously enhanced by optimising the complete ecosystem: not only does this add more to the existing functionality, but the end user enjoys added value.

“Over the years, we have significantly grown our R&D teams which are today based in our Ekaterinburg and Bucharest offices,” adds Okorokov.

In addition to designing their own hardware and associated firmware, InfiNet Wireless also design various supporting applications, such asInfiMONITOR – a user-friendly yet powerful network management system for broadband wireless networks of all sizes.

The software tool allows the end user to monitor the exact status of their network in a dynamic fashion, make relevant changes when adding or relocating remote nodes, uploading software updates to one or all network elements, etc. whilst at the same time providing full scalability and flexibility to meet future requirements.

“Additionally, we have developed and released to our valued partners and customers a major upgrade of ourInfiPLANNER – a cloud-based planning tool that supports all our product families. We are also working on various new tools for the wireless industry, but more details will be released in a very near future.”

For many experienced engineers and network consultants, wireless links are usually only considered as temporary solutions since the technology was often not deemed stable enough.

“This is indeed true of very low cost solutions from vendors who simply do not invest enough in quality products. The key driver behind everything we do when designing our wireless solutions is the provision of the highest quality of service possible with any type of unit we ship, and ultimately peace of mind for the end users.”

InfiNet Wireless has deployed thousands of networks across the world that are “a true testimony to the reliability we offer, whether they are for simply connecting two remote locations, or providing a complete platform for homeland security and other mission-critical applications”.

For example, during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, InfiNet Wireless played a major role in providing connectivity solutions (transmission of large media data volumes; communications channels for international streaming broadcast; and additional connectivity for the surge in subscribers) – they were able to step in when the national telcos were unable to adhere to the tight timeframes.

The flexibility of wireless solutions facilitates seamless integration into existing infrastructure, regardless of the complexity and reach, saving valuable resources to all parties involved.
