Seychelles refines its blue economy approach
The Commonwealth is helping to smooth Seychelles’ transition to being a more integrated ocean-based economy with a new strategic road map.
The Principal Secretary of the country’s Blue Economy Department, Rose-Marie Bargain, met with experts at the Commonwealth headquarters to discuss the implementation of the road map.
“In Seychelles, being an oceanic state, we have always been dependent on the oceans for economic development in terms of fisheries, trade, maritime transport, tourism,” said Bargain.
“The Commonwealth helped Seychelles in terms of developing a roadmap, taking a holistic approach to prevent the exploitation of marine resources and the services oceans offer.”
