Philips Africa Roadshow - Mother and Child

A vehicle for development success in Africa

On the basis of the success of the 2010 tour, Philips  has  announced the 2011 Cape Town to Cairo road show; a journey in  which Philips  will travel across Africa to raise awareness for the  opportunities and  best-in-class healthcare and lighting solutions  can provide in order to  improve the quality of life in  Africa.??

The roadshow kicked off on 12 May  in Cape Town and will cover 12 countries across 12,000 kilometers in 62 days, concluding in Cairo on 11 July.??The Philips team will engage  with key  customers, media and stakeholders, to present and discuss  experiences and  insights to address the key challenges facing Africa  today – Healthcare,  Mother and Child Care, Woman’s healthcare,  Energy efficient lighting solutions  and healthy living.??

This  year’s road show is themed around Mother and  Child care and will  explore potential commitments and calls to action that  would have an  impact on African healthcare. With just four years left to  achieve  the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as an expert and industry   leader Philips wants to intensify efforts to improve women’s and  children’s  health to meet MDGs 4 and 5.??

In addition to  showcasing Philips  solutions, the road show also aims to deliver  meaningful clinical education to  help improve standards of care.  There is a major training requirement across  the continent and  Philips recognizes the need for continuous education to  maintain and  advance clinical competencies. Two-day training modules will be   delivered by Rosemonde Lesobre (Sales and Market Development Manager  OB) in  all key markets and will focus on CTG Interpretation, Newborn  Rescucitation,  Ultrasound OBGYN and Ventilation.
