IDDS HOST LEGISLATIVE WORKSHOP IN GHANA

Institute for Development  and Democratic  Studies  (IDDS)-Nigeria,  host  workshop  for Osun   State  House of  Assembly Legislators at  Ramada Resort here  in  Ghana.

In other to empower legislators with proper understanding of issues relating to legislative responsibilities, Osun House of Assembly now has utterly elected members on the platform of Action Congress (AC).

Over half of elected members do not possess any parliamentary or state level governance experience. Therefore, there is the need to impart the much required skills, capacity, information and education that would enhance their capacity to function correctly as representatives of the party and the people of Osun State in Nigeria.

The workshop which aim at building capacity of legislators to understand, initiate and drive for legislative process, and develop skills of legislators to appreciate the virtues of good governance and the public.

Speaking at the workshop is the former speaker and Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator. Oloronimbe Mamora, on his representation he said “parliamentary representation is an opportunity to make difference in the life of the people”.

Legislatures are selected to represent the people, so if you lack ideas, one can not be a good law maker he added.

Sen. Mamora went ahead to challenge the elected members of Osun House of Assembly to understand the constitution, rules and regulations of the federal governance of Nigeria (FGN) in order to access productivity.

Apart from Senator Mamora, other resource persons like Professor Adigun Agbage, Political Science Lecturer University of Ibadan, Professor Musa Abutudu, Department of Political Science, University of Benin, and Also Dr. Jane-France Agbu, Senior Lecturer, Clinical Psychology, National Open University, Lagos, Feme Aborsiade and other Senior Lecturers and Professors were there to grace the occasion.
