EABL Foundation commissions Ksh.5 Million water and sanitation facilities in Thika

As part of a wider initiative to provide sustainable development, EABL Foundation today officially commissioned Water and Sanitation facilities in Thika Town at a cost of Ksh5 million.

The two facilities constructed through the technical support of Ecotact, a local NGO, aim to serve close to 48,000 residents of the rapidly expanding town.

Part of the facilities includes fully-fitted male and female toilets and showers as well as a large water tank that serves as a water collection and vending point.

The facilities were commissioned by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, Mr Mark Bor in the presence of EABL, Head of Supply Chain, Gerald Githinji, Councillor John Wandue, Town Clerk, Mr. Felix Mbiuki and the Chief Public Health Officer, Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, Mr. Kepha Ombacho, among others.

Mr. Githinji described the provision of water and sanitation as a key catalyst to meeting Millennium Development Goals and Kenya’s Vision 2030.

“Commissioning of these facilities demonstrates a commitment to the communities in which we operate. It is important to note that we are committed towards improving access to safe drinking and sanitation water,” he said.

“I am also glad to note that the project is among many EABL Foundation Water of Life initiatives in the country that have given impetus to our greater goal of benefiting 500,000 beneficiaries with clean water in this financial year,” he concluded.

EABL Foundation has sponsored over 30 similar sustainable water blocks in Kenya and Uganda over the last three years.
