DFC CEO business visit to Freetown

U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) CEO Scott Nathan  traveled to Freetown, Sierra Leone to highlight private sector-led development, meet with government officials, and discuss development and investment opportunities with the business community.

In Freetown, CEO Nathan and U.S. Ambassador David Reimer met with H.E. Mr. Julius Maada Bio, the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, to discuss the country’s economic growth and development. CEO Nathan also met with Minister of Finance Jacob Jusu Saffa and Minister of Energy Alhaji Kanja Sesay to discuss the U.S. commitment to private sector investment in health, energy, financial services, agriculture, and critical infrastructure.

CEO Nathan toured the facilities of DFC partner Africell, a telecommunications facility which is expanding the availability and quality of affordable mobile connectivity and internet in West Africa. DFC’s work with Africell is one example of our commitment to bolstering secure and reliable telecommunications infrastructure and services on the continent.

CEO Nathan also met with TCQ, the developer of the Western Area Power Generation Plant, to discuss DFC’s financing commitment for the project.
