Angola and Cape Verde sign agreements to end double taxation

Angola and Cape Verde have signed three agreements to end double taxation and guarantee mutual administrative assistance in customs and tax matters between the two countries.

The agreements, initiated by the Cape Verdean and Angolan finance ministers, Olavo Correia and Archer Mangueira, respectively, aim at guaranteeing the mutual protection of investment and the free movement of goods and capital.

According to Olavo Correia, it is his country's intention to cooperate with Angola in the area of free movement of citizens and secure investment, thus ensuring better taxation conditions.

Angolan Finance Minister Archer Mangueira on the other hand said that the agreements signed with Cape Verde bring enormous strategic advantages to Angola, where the elimination of double taxation will increase foreign investment, reflecting on economic growth, knowledge and competence transfers, as well as in building infrastructure and increasing employment.

Regarding mutual administrative assistance in customs and tax matters, the minister said that the agreement will promote trade facilitation and make it possible to combat acts that constitute customs unlawfulness.

Olavo Correia also held a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, and was a speaker at a lecture on "Investment Potentials between Cape Verde and Angola", with the participation of the public and private business sector.
