Dr. Kevin MURAGIJIMANA is the fonder and CEO of DoctorAI,DoctorAI is a HealthTech and Artificial Intelligence-based company, officially registered in November 2021.
Dr. Muragijimana worked on several health projects in Rwanda and is passionate about contributing to the critical issues in health sector especially in Africa continent, where the idea of creating DoctorAI platform originated.
Could you tell us about your company ?
DoctorAI is a HealthTech and Artificial Intelligence-based company, officially registered in November 2021, founded by two Medical Doctors (Dr. Kevin MURAGIJIMANA & Dr. David NDAYISHIMIYE) who had a solution of using artificial intelligence or in other words providing a third hand to healthcare providers and help them reduce mortality and morbidity associated with medical errors and inaccessibility to some medical specialists. Access to quality healthcare in low-income countries is impacted by many various factors.
DoctorAI has a solution to that, DoctorAI is providing user-friendly and mobile-based Artificial Intelligence models to help reduce diagnostic errors and promote standard management. Those features include:
(1) Artificial Intelligence powered Breast X-ray (mammography) which interprets breast images at an accuracy of 98%, more than the wisest radiologists in the world, and this feature can be used by General Practitioners or Family Doctors around the world without having to wait for radiologists. DoctorAI also provides an Artificial Intelligence Breast Cancer screening model which predicts the risks of getting breast cancer and provides preventive screening recommendations. DoctorAI aims at preventing people from getting Breast cancer and detecting the disease before it can progress.
(2) Artificial Intelligence power chest X-ray analyzer and interpreter which can detect normal and many abnormal features on chest X-Ray images including Lung cancer at an accuracy of 95.4%. This feature can be used by General Practitioners or family doctors without having to wait for internists or radiologists and helps reduce errors associated with misdiagnosis or misinterpretation.
(3) Ai for Leukemia model detects leukemia blast cells (Early precursors of blood cancer) in blood smear microscopic images. It can localize and label leukemia blasts at an accuracy of 98.2%. This feature can be used by General Practitioners or family doctors without having to wait for hematologists or oncologists and helps reduce errors associated with misdiagnosis or misinterpretation.
(4) Ai for Malaria detects malaria-infected red blood cells from microscopic blood smear images. It can localize and label parasitized red blood cells at an accuracy of 97.9%. This one can be used by laboratory technicians and helps reduce errors associated with misinterpretation.

What is your company’s growth strategy for 2022?
DoctorAI is currently functioning through a mobile application that is available on both Appstore and Playstore, and the app is mainly being used by medical doctors.
We are currently designing a web version of the app which will see us functioning not only on smartphones but also on computers and other medical devices. Having a functioning web version of DoctorAI will enable us to deal with many different health institutions: mainly hospitals and medical device manufacturing companies.
What are the long-term ambitions you’re aiming for, as Company? (National? International? If international, what countries and markets?)
We are a company focused on using artificial intelligence to improve the standard of healthcare services and clinical outcomes by reducing medical errors. The company will keep on creating Ai models and cover as many diseases as possible. Our dream is to be the company of reference in the field of artificial intelligence in medicine with an international reach and standard. We will first cover the African market, starting with our neighboring countries.
