[INTERVIEW] ABC exclusive interview with Akua Nyame-Mensah, Managing Director of Lamudi Ghana

ABC meets Akua Nyame-Mensah, Managing Director of Lamudi.com.gh, where we enter the world of real estate and online marketing

 

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself and Lamudi.

Lamudi Ghana was launched in late 2013.  There are 28 Lamudis across the globe including Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. I launched the website and now run the team that provides all the content for the website.

 

  1. .       How do you operate?

Lamudi.com.gh is an online real estate portal and mobile app that not only provides quality leads to developers but also captures important information on preferences, pricing and the types of properties available.  The website and mobile app empowers consumers with information on available properties and furthers the reach of developers and realtors. It serves as a platform for homebuyers, sellers, renters and real estate professionals and attempts to revolutionize the industry by eliminating information asymmetries and making the house hunting process smoother and more democratic for all stakeholders.  The Lamudi team works with developers and agencies to ensure that individuals have the maximum information available for each property they are viewing, so that once an individual does decide to inquire about a property, they know exactly what to expect.

 

 

  1. Online marketing is fairly new to Ghana, what are the significant strides Lamudi have made in making online shopping easier?

As more people begin their housing search online, Lamudi allows developers in developing countries to gain more exposure, while employing a strict quality control process that ensures the minimal possibility of fraud. We show agents and developers how providing more information and better pictures can get them better leads.  We also provide them an opportunity to gain international leads because we are in 28 different countries across the world including Nigeria.

 

  1. What are the challenges in meeting the demands of the Ghanaian marketing?

A lot of agents are not willing to provide enough information about their properties (including location).  The more information and better pictures they provide the easier it will be for them to get leads.  We also work to demonstrate how through online marketing agents and developers can get more and better leads than through traditional marketing.  Online marketing is much more targeted.

 

 

  1. What do you hope to achieve 5 to 10 years from now?

Lamudi Ghana is currently the best online real estate marketplace in Ghana.  Our website will continue to provide agents and developers with the best quality leads and those interested in finding property the most update to date information. By the end of year we will not only have more of the best properties in Ghana but the best content and information about the real estate industry in Ghana.
