[BLOG] 10 Secrets behind great digital campaigns and online business

Whatever we aim to do is achievable. Someone already achieved it or is in the process of breaking the news. Running online business or global digital campaigns today can be challenging but if we understand the metrics, we stand the chances. Two of Nigeria’s online retail services Konga and Jumai now enjoy investment from external sources. They may not be perfect companies yet but the founders have demonstrated enough courage. Yours can be the next one. Today we just want to examine 10 secrets behind great online business and digital campaign success.

Know what you aim to achieve: Develop the ability to craft what you aim at and will like to achieve in a thirty seconds bite. That will help people to understand and support you before they hear the full story. What is the business or digital campaign idea perspective?

Sit down and count the cost: If we do not count the cost, we may not be adequately positioned to handle challenges ahead.

Do not wait for perfect time: many people wait for perfect time. They give several excuses why their campaign may not succeed. All they need to do is make decision, gather relevant facts and run.

Gather your teams or connect with right people: sometimes what we are out to do may require external support. But we must take the first step. Once taken, gather your team or connect with people who can give you support without much hassle.

Be willing to take risk: many people are afraid to risk taking. They do not want to create a little disruption. You cannot make progress that way. Nothing in life is certain except death and change. I have not seen anyone who is always sure of everything. Sometimes you must be willing to take a risk.

When you make mistake, learn the lesson and move ahead: In addition to the above, mistakes are normal to life. The only clause is when you make the same mistake over and over. Then you have become a fool. There may be a time when your first step in the water is bitten by a fish or shark. If you still have your brain intact, you can still work out details of next move. Ashoka fellowship philosophy is relevant here. It believes the best way to become an expert in anything is by practicing, failing, collaborating, learning from mistakes, and taking responsibility for making a difference.

Never ignore your intuition:  Human intuition is not just an addendum. It is created to serve a purpose. Intuition is often called the sixth sense, hunch, instinct and feeling. Sometimes it may not appear logical but it can serve as a signal on possible flow of events. When you have a team, be sure you share with them.  But if you are a solo-entrepreneur it will not be a bad idea if you sound it out with a trusted mentor.

Learn from the wisdom of the crowd and benchmark: Online business and digital campaigns can gain from other initiative. You really do not necessarily have to go and meet them, search Google and find out what is working.

Build a lot of  energy in advance: in life there may not be full guarantees for any idea. Until we step out, we are not so sure whether we will succeed. So build up your energy level in case you do not have immediate returns as expected. You must keep going. That is if you are sure this is what you want to do.

Take time to celebrate the progress: Learn to celebrate little achievement on your way up. If your target is to have four million followers and connect with 10 major campaign influencers but you are half way, learn to celebrate this progress.

Is there anything we are missing? Supply them.
