Pride Microfinance partners with WorldRemit for digital money transfers to Uganda
Digital money transfer service WorldRemit has joined forces with Pride Microfinance Ltd (MDI) to allow customers to send money instantly to 30 new cash pickup locations in Uganda - from Arua to Kabale.
WorldRemit’s mobile-first digital model saves customers time and money as they do not have to visit a bricks and mortar agent to send money home. Using the WorldRemit app or website, the Ugandan diaspora in over 50 countries can now send money instantly for cash collection at Pride Microfinance branches.
Pride Microfinance is the leading microfinance institution in Uganda, providing financial solutions to micro-entrepreneurs and small, medium and large businesses in Uganda. It serves over 500,000 customers in its 34 branches and 8 contact offices.
Uganda is one of the top six remittance receiving countries for WorldRemit. Top send countries include the UK, USA and Australia. The World Bank estimates that the country received over $1.4 billion in remittances in 2017, accounting for 5% of its GDP.
Ivan Kanyali, Country Manager of Uganda at WorldRemit, comments: “Ugandans across the world make WorldRemit their top choice when it comes to sending money home. We are delighted to partner with Pride Microfinance to further expand our cash pickup network in the country and make our convenient service accessible to even more Ugandans living in rural areas.”
