PesaPal opens new office in Arusha
PesaPal has announced the opening of its new office in Arusha, Tanzania to cater to for the growing demand for payment services by businesses in the region. The new Arusha offices are in addition to its offices in Zanzibar and Dar Es Salaam as the company seeks to support its growth strategy particularly in the hospitality and retail segment.
“For us to cater effectively to the increased demand in Tanzania, we needed to have a permanent presence in the country which is why we have opened additional offices, first in Zanzibar and now in Arusha. We want to show our customers that we are committed to providing quality services and meet them at their point of need.“ Pesapal CEO Mark Mwongela said.
Founded in 2009, Pesapal helps individuals and businesses to make and accept payments in Africa both online and at the point of sale thereby lowering the cost of collecting money for businesses. The company is working with mobile network operators, banks and payment service providers with operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Last year, PesaPal launched Pesapal Sabi, the point of sale solution which has seen unprecedented growth in Tanzania necessitating investment in human resource and office space in the emerging economy. Sabi is a chip and pin and NFC-powered mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) solution that allows businesses and individuals to process secure card payments in store or on the go via their Android mobile phones or tablets.
Sabi was launched in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and allows businesses to process Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards in both local currencies and US dollars. Apart from being multi-currency and multiplatform, Sabi benefits from the relationship Pesapal has built with major banks, Mobile Network Operators, Credit Card companies and utility firms to give consumers as many payment options as possible and timely settlements for business to their bank account of choice.
Sabi added mVisa and PesaPal says it is working to add M-PESA and American Express among others.
