AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd, the service company of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Kenya (AHK Kenya), in conjunction with the German- African Business Association (Afrika-Verein) is organizing a business delegation trip to Uganda and Rwanda from 28th May to 1st of June 2018.

The delegation trip is supported by an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.

We are looking forward to a successful cooperation and growing business opportunities for the German and Rwandan/Ugandan civil-security industry, said Mr. Ulf Zumkley, the Head of Division IV-A 4 – Security and Defense Industry; Steel and Metal Production within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The fact-finding mission to Uganda and Rwanda is intended for German companies working in the area of civil-security technologies and services to explore the market and to expand business relations into Uganda and Rwanda.

“In two symposia the participants can enter into conversation with potential clients and business partners,” said Zumkley.

In recent years, markets for civil-security technologies in Uganda and Rwanda have been expanding rapidly and will experience additional impetus due to the upcoming modernization of public and private security capabilities and regulations.

The countries face diverse challenges in the field of domestic security due to the political instability in the region. Protecting its citizens, its public institutions, and other parts of its infrastructure is key to providing social stability and ensuring economic prosperity, said Zumkley.

The business delegation consists of 11 companies from Germany who are actively engaged in the security sector, providing innovative security technologies, services, solutions, and products in the area of civil security.

Civil security technologies play an important role in this context and have a broad spectrum of application – from use within public bodies (e.g. police, fire brigade, border security and disaster management), to companies, to private households.
