Agnes Gathaiya appointed Google Country Director for East Africa

Google has appointed Agnes Gathaiya as Country Director for East Africa with her role being managing regional operations for the region.

Gathaiya will be responsible for developing and executing the organisation’s in-country strategy for innovation and growth in line with Google’s regional priorities and mission, vision, and values and contributing to in-country growth of Google products and services.

She will also oversee the building and managing strategic partnerships, including relationships with leading advertisers, agencies, and clients as well as driving revenue growth.

Her time of experience stretches 21 years in organisational transformation, focused on developing strategy, and providing commercial leadership in sales and business development.

She replaces Charles Murito who has segued into another role within Google as the Director for Sub Saharan Africa, Government Affairs & Public Policy.

Gathaiya previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Kenya’s digital payments company, Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL).

She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from United States International University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Bryn Mawr College in the USA.
