Bas Vlugt: Report on my talk with LinkedIn about LinkedIn Groups
Following my publication on how LinkedIn is destroying groups, I was invited by LinkedIn Community Manager Sophie Bonnet for a talk.
We had the talk last Tuesday. Before I go into the content of the talk I want to state that I highly appreciate that LinkedIn is willing to speak with group owners. The talk was one-on-one and lasted 40 minutes. Sophie did listen to me and tried as good as possible to explain the position of LinkedIn. The talk was nice and respectful and I thank both LinkedIn and Sophie for that.
Before I go into details, here already the conclusion:
There are generally 3 possible things going on regarding LinkedIn Groups:
1. LinkedIn is really clever and I am just not smart enough to understand
2. LinkedIn is really clever and for some reason unwilling or unable to share what they are up to
3. LinkedIn is making a historical mistake
I am pretty sure it is 3...
