Safaricom crosses 1,000 5G sites mark in Kenya
Safaricom on Monday announced significant advancements in its 5G network coverage, having crossed the 1,000 sites mark.
The telco also said its 5G network is now available in all 47 counties in Kenya and growing the 5G footprint to 14% of the population.
With 1,114 5G sites covering 102 towns across the country, Safaricom says more individuals, businesses, and homes are now experiencing the benefits of high-speed internet.

In addition to the growing network, Safaricom now has over 11,000 enterprise customers on 5G and has seen growth in the number of active 5G smartphones to over 780,000.
In October 2022, Safaricom became the first service provider in Kenya to launch 5G. The telco also offers tailored 5G data bundles and wi-fi packages available under ‘Go Monthly’ on MySafaricom App, Safaricom.com, and USSD *544#. 5G W-fi on the other hand can be accessed through MySafaricom App, USSD *400# or by visit the nearest Safaricom shop.

Over the years, Safaricom has consistently invested in its network, covering 97% of Kenya’s population on 2G, 3G, 4G and most recently 5G. Its Fibre network has also passed more than 560,000 homes and businesses.
