Sonangol, through its Business Unit Gas and Renewable Energy, has signed the Head of Terms agreement with Total Eren and Greentech, referring to the construction project of the Central Energy Photovoltaics "Quilemba Solar".

The plant will be built in the Lubango region, to supply around 30 MW to the national electricity grid, thus reinforcing energy production in Angola.

This significant milestone, which precedes other stages for the development of the project, represents yet another step by Sonangol and Total, with the support of Greentech, towards the goals, defined by the Government, of producing energy from renewable sources, up to 500 MW, in the time horizon 2022-2025.

The implementation of this project is another step towards the clean energies that are currently at the heart of the strategy of Total and Sonangol, both traditional oil companies, but also companies focused on the energy of the future.

The agreement was signed by the President of the Executive Committee of the Gas and Renewable Energy Business Unit, Manuel Borges de Barros, and by Olivier Jouny, General Director of Total Angola, an  act witnessed by the Chairman of the Board  of Directors of Sonangol, Gaspar Martins, and the administrators Jorge Vinhas and Joaquim Fernandes.
