World Bank to open office in Angola to finance tourism

An office of the World Bank will be opened in Luanda this September to finance private investments in the tourism sector, said the representative of the institution in Angola, Olivier Jacques Lambert.

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Tourism Forum, the head of the Bretton Woods institution said that the projects will be financed according to their quality and size, with different amounts and interest rates.

Olivier Jacques Lambert explained that in addition to the credit concession, the BM will follow the investment projects, because it understands that this component is more important than the money, combined with the capacity of the potential investor, aiming for success.

"The improvement of the business environment and the introduction of incentives to increase investor confidence are other support provided by the World Bank to Angola, which has many challenges," he said.

The manager, who gave a lecture on "Business Environment and Investment Opportunity", considered tourism a source of growth and diversification of the economy, which can help protect the "extraordinary" natural environment of Angola.

The World Tourism Forum was opened by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.
