The Egyptian payment processing company MSCC comes on board as Platinum sponsor for African Banker Awards

Mediterranean Smart Cards Company (MSCC), suppliers of smart card payment processing services to banks across Africa's emerging markets, is the Platinum sponsor for the African Banker Awards 2011.

The Egyptian company which celebrates 100 years this year employs over 150 staff and has positioned itself at the forefront of electronic payment technology in Africa. The company currently serves more than 85 domestic and international banks within Egypt and in little time has expanded throughout Africa to many international locations such as Algeria, Angola, Benin, Cape Verde, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Libya, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Togo, to name a few.

Now in its 5th edition, the African Banker Awards is a landmark annual event organised by African Banker magazine during the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings to honour the achievements of African financial institutions and individuals who have contributed significantly to the reform, modernisation and expansion of the continent’s banking and financial system. Omar Ben Yedder, Publisher of African Banker magazine, commented: “We’re delighted to have MSCC on board as our Platinum sponsor. They have shown through their extensive investment and business transactions in Africa that they understand how the region operates as a market and their services are playing an important role in building Africa’s banking infrastructure.

MSCC is the sort of company we love to be associated with, a successful indigenous African company leading in the field of innovation and servicing established and emerging companies across Africa. They are leading the way in many ways and such success is what will drive private sector growth, which our group sees as the backbone of the continent’s economic development.”

MSCC was established in 2001 with the primary objective of providing high quality, smart card payment processing services to banks across Africa's emerging markets. In addition, MSCC has supporting missions to facilitate smart card issuance and card product lifecycle management and to educate consumers about smart technology: the payment technology of the future. The awards this year will take place at the Willard Intercontinental, Washington DC on the 23rd September. Financial Institutions can still submit entries across a number of categories. Previous winners include Ecobank, Equity Bank, Renaissance Capital, Standard Bank and many financial institutions leading the way in African Banking.
