Take the time to secure balance in life say HR specialists

People tend to neglect the skill of managing time effectively in favour of other priorities in the workplace. However, human resource experts agree that business success and achieving a healthy life/work balance is almost entirely dependent on using time wisely.

HR and recruitment specialists at Accsys believe that for the most part, employees and employers today are compelled to handle a lot more responsibilities at once.

The quest for work/life balance continues and is that much harder to achieve because of the advent of mobile technology and the rapid explosion of social networking that fuel an ‘always available’ mindset they claim.

The reality of the modern workplace is that personal and business interaction is no longer restricted to conventional or ‘office hours’.

Accsys, a member of the Business Connexion Group (BCX), is a national supplier of people management software and hardware solutions within the HR, payroll and time & attendance space.

Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, says that the inability to say ‘no’ is most definitely the biggest thief of time. This inability feeds the notion that failure to instantly and successfully juggle everything somehow equates to personal inadequacy she says.

“We live in an “instant response” world, where a response time of over an hour is considered way too slow.   We need to work at managing expectations more effectively,” Schroenn adds.

As an executive manager of a progressive, growing enterprise Schroenn does her best to remember the saying: you may be able to have it all, but you cannot do it all!

She believes that integration is the key to gaining some level of balance between work and personal responsibilities.

“I have accepted that, in managing a company, I am going to have to be available at strange hours, but my family also knows that I am available to them during the day, should they need me.   I have made a habit of taking a half-day leave every now and then and spending quality time with one of my children, as well as with family and special friends.  However, sometimes the dentist and dishwasher repairs do not make it to the top of the priority list!” adds Schroenn.

The company lists time management as a priority for any worker in today’s economy. It is a skill that has to be acquired quickly by employees and, fortunately, growth in mobile technology makes life easier in this respect.

The variety of high-capacity, compact and high-performance solutions now available on the market enable users to multi-task.

It is possible to access resources, store and transfer files anytime, anywhere, and also remotely manage a host of business disciplines.

Today the market requires that workers handle various responsibilities simultaneously and successfully. Today, with advanced time management systems and mobile applications, it is possible to juggle time and keep work/life balance in tact.
