Samsung’s low-cost Z4 launches in South Africa

Samsung is continuing its roll-out of the Samsung Z4 smartphone in South Africa for R1,499 – powered by its own Operating System (OS), Tizen. Tizen is made by Samsung, for Samsung, with the intention of making smartphones less complicated and more efficient, according to the company.

Tizen technology also offers 3D window effects with support for apps and games that require advanced 3D graphics. The OS is clutter-free, and has an intuitive interface, as stated by the firm. It is lighter than competitor OS’s, which makes for a faster operating experience and longer lasting battery life.

“Our affordable Tizen series has been instrumental in catalysing the smartphone upgrade and with the Samsung Z4, we will offer yet another compelling product to affordable segment consumers,” said Craige Fleischer, Director: Integrated Mobility, Samsung South Africa. “It comes equipped with ‘double’ the usual benefits in terms of camera, flash and style and sports a 5MP front flash camera for selfies in all-light conditions.”

The dual LED flash on the 5MP rear camera snaps brighter images even in low light conditions and users get editing options within the camera view finder and features like beauty mode, live filters and profile template, ensure social media-ready enhanced images.

Furthermore, as revealed by the firm, the Samsung Z4’s 4.5” screen allows consumers to enjoy games, videos and other multimedia content to the fullest while the 2.5D glass gives the front display a refreshed look and comfortable grip.to maximise the style quotient. An additional black back cover is provided inbox for all users to enjoy both gold and black styles on the same device.

Samsung claims that the user interface on the Samsung Z4 is simple, easy to use and optimised for seamless performance. The smartphone comes with a 1.5 quad core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory, which is further expandable up to 128 GB. It is fuelled by a 2050 mAh long-lasting battery.
