Radisson Hotel Group set to build five hotels in Angola’s capital
Five hotels from 3 to 5 stars are expected to be built in the country in the next few years by the international hotel chain Radisson Hotel Group, its developer in Erwan Garnier has said.
On the sidelines of the World Tourism Forum (WTF), opened by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the official stressed that Angola is included in a group of eight priority countries, in which it intends to open 50 hotels, from 2022.
According to Erwan Garnier, these units are expected to join 100 open hotels in 32 African countries.
The strategy in Angola, he said, will focus on Luanda, as the country's capital, but after consolidating the business in the capital, will expand investments in the provinces of Cabinda, Benguela and Namibe.
He said that the first hotel unit should be well situated, in places such as Marginal, Ilha or Talatona.
Regarding the volume of investment, Erwan Garnier did not advance the financial amount, but said that it will depend on the positioning and other factors to be studied.
Asked about employability, the official justified that a hotel of 150 rooms should create at least 300 to 400 jobs, 99 percent of which should be for Angolans.
As for the tourism sector, Erwan Garnier, pointed out that Angola has enormous potential, but the country must have more infrastructure to support tourism (visa services, aircraft fleet), among others.
The World Tourism Forum has an investment of $1 billion for Angola, in support of the development of this sector.
Angola will work with the WTF in a minimum period of five years, with the aim of developing tourism, attracting investors and promoting the image of Angola.
The leaders of the tourism industry worldwide are addressing themes such as "Tourism in Africa," "Digital or Computerized Tourism," "The Role of Government in Business Travel," "Why Invest in Angola," and "The Secret or the History of the Success of Tourist Destinations, "among other subjects.
The event brings together around one thousand five hundred delegates, which can bring investment opportunities in the sectors of construction, transport, agriculture, energy and water and provide job creation, as tourism is a peace and leisure investment industry, as well as opportunities.
