Q-KON, XipLink connect to boost broadband across Africa’s SME market

Q-KON, an established engineering group and provider of managed network services and turn-key solutions, has entered into a VAR-integrator partnership with XipLink to integrate hub optimisation technology into its satellite access platforms as well as for the distribution of the Xiplink product range in Africa.

XipLink is a global developer and supplier of wireless bandwidth optimisation products. The company's XipLink Optimization Software (XipOS) core product delivers SCPS-based TCP acceleration, streaming payload compression and XRT real time optimizations for small UDP packets while also integrating the XipLink Hub Optimizations (XHO) for optimal web traffic performance.

The result is obtaining maximum capacity over stressed wireless links to give the best price/performance ratio in the satellite business.   Q-KON is utilizing the high capacity XA-30K 155 Mbps hub optimizer at the satellite gateway facility and low cost XA-500 appliances at customer sites throughout Africa as part of the BB-X Solution.

BB-X is an example of how the Xiplink technology unlocks real business benefits to the business market. The BB-X service provides an end-to-end satellite business Internet access service that is optimised through the integration of VSAT, acceleration and content management technologies and eliminates the classical cost-performance constraint of satellite technologies. It offers the Small-to-Medium Enterprise (SME) market a completely new paradigm in performance and cost value.

Executive management from both XipLink and Q-KON believe that the combination of XipLink XHO integrated within the satellite access platform represents a solid match that will enhance broadband connectivity.

As an authorized VAR-Integrator for the Xiplink range of technologies Q-KON will also drive the distribution and integration of the Xiplink range of products to 3rd party operators including the distribution and supply of the products.

“The market is expanding at a rapid rate and satellite infrastructure is a critical element of this growth. Access to broadband and platform content management technologies is important to business development. We are excited about our partnership with XipLink and the value this hub optimisation technology and specialist services will add to the local market,” says Dawie de Wet, CEO, Q-KON.

The sentiment is echoed by Jack Waters, CEO, XipLink, who says the African market has reached a level of maturity and is ready for optimisation.

“Integrating wireless link optimization into a solution and bundling it with the other hardware and software components an SME requires, along with proper installation and ongoing management, adds significant value to the market.  We are very pleased to have combined our expertise and resources with Q-KON, a knowledgeable partner that has a solid track record in satellite solution development, connectivity and related support,” says Waters.
