NET certified first local assembly partner

Q-KON SA, the South African distributor of the Network Equipment Technologies (NET) VoIP appliance -, E-SBC -, SBA -, and gateway products, has announced that, for the first time, UX10000 products can now be assembled outside of the NET manufacturing plants.

The UX10000 is a Microsoft qualified Enhanced Gateway or SBA for the small to medium branch office. It ensures that the Lync Server will operate at a high level of security and quality in branch offices during WAN failures.

The UX10000 offers true “any-to-any” signalling translation and media inter-working between Lync and legacy TDM clients and PSTN endpoints. The UX10000 can simultaneously connect to legacy TDM PBXs and the PSTN through PRI, BRI or FXO ports. Alongside these ports, FXS ports are available for analog phones and faxes, to provide complete TDM device integration into a branch office’s Lync topology.

In parallel, the UX10000 also interconnects IP-based endpoints (i.e. IP-PBXs, non-Lync SIP clients) and public VoIP networks (e.g. ITSPs) to the Lync clients.

The UX10000 is a modular platform, and local assembly means 1000+ possible configurations are available to suit a customer’s exact requirements. This advantage extends to the support of the product, as processing capacity, ASM modules, or other line cards can be added as the deployment evolves, or can be replaced in case of equipment repair.

“We are certainly very proud NET chose Q-KON SA as the first distributor to undergo the required training, and to be certified as a NET Assembly Distributor (NAD). Our support and service has always been a key capability that we offer to our customers. This (new certification) allows the supply chain to add even more value,” says Tjaart de Wet MD Q-KON SA.

The UX10000 is supported by its bigger brother, the UX2000, and the UX series is now being type-approved by most major SIP Trunk providers (including Neotel, VOX, ATC, Vodacom) as well as PBX manufacturers (including Alcatel, Cisco Call Manager, NEC, Siemens, Nortel and Panasonic).

Together with the local assembly advantage, there is every indication and assurance that stakeholders are ready to develop the local unified communication market.
