MTN Mobile Money and UT Bank pay first Insurance Premium in three days
MTN Ghana and UT life today paid their first insurance premium of GH¢ 1,945 to a subscriber within 72 hours of submission of the relevant documents for claims. With this speed of delivery, ‘Mi-Life’, a Mobile Insurance Service which provides cover in the event of death of the subscriber or his next of kin, has demonstrated strong commitment to their promise of paying claims within 100 working days.
Emelia Sena Adjei, who has been on the service for only one month, was the proud beneficiary of the first claim from Mi-Life. She received her claim at the UT Life Insurance office at Tesano, Accra. The presentation ceremony was witnessed by the Managing Director of UT Life, Mr. Tiibu Aziz Rayamah, Madam Elizabeth Asmah – General Manager, UT Life and Mr. Eli Hini Senior Manager for MTN Mobile Money.
Presenting the cheque, Mr. Aziz Rayamah said “there is only one Life Insurance company in Ghana that acts swiftly with the processing and payment of claims to beneficiaries and that is UT Life. He was grateful for the fast payment through MTN’s Mobile Money. The beneficiary, Emelia, expressed her profound gratitude to UT Life and MTN Mobile Money for the timely support as her family prepares for her father’s funeral. She said “I was just trying the policy in response to a text message I received on my phone. I didn’t expect to be a beneficiary soon because I never expected anything to happen. Now I am convinced beyond all doubt that the policy is so real. I have other insurance policies else where but I am going to stay with UT Life because this scheme is affordable compared to the others that I know of”.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Eli Hini said “The MTN Mobile Money service is ideal for all category of persons who consider convenience as an important ingredient in their daily activities. MTN subscribers who are currently not on the Mobile Money service are urged to join the service to be able to realize the benefits it offers”. As a technologically savvy network, MTN has endeared itself to its valued customers through the deployment of state of the art technology to address their communication, business and social needs.
The Micro Insurance Service is available to MTN Mobile Money subscribers and monthly premiums are as low as GH¢1. Subscription is available via phone after the completion of a registration form. The subscriber would dial *165# on any MTN number and choose a monthly premium amount between GH¢1.00 to -5.00 that will be deducted from his/her mobile money wallet each month. Once the premium is deducted, the insurance cover lasts for one month until the next monthly premium is deducted. All insured persons must be aged 18-75 years, resident in Ghana and should be of good health at the time of enrolment.
Mi-Life claims range from GH¢ 500 to 2000 depending on the monthly premium. Claims must be presented within 30 days of death. They are easy to file and today’s presentation event is a clear demonstration of MTN’s commitment in providing a convenient and reliable mobile Insurance to its Customers
