MTN Group appoints new Vice President for the SEA Region

The MTN Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Ignatius Sehoole as Vice President for the South and East Africa (SEA) Region, effective November 1, 2010. He will take over from Mr Tim Lowry whose contract with MTN ended in June this year.

Sehoole comes to the MTN Group from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he was Joint Deputy Chief Executive. He also served on the PwC Executive Committee and was responsible for the integration of PwC’s operations across the African continent. Prior to joining PwC, Sehoole was the Executive President of South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) where he successfully drove the positioning of SAICA to its next level of growth from a strategic and capacity perspective. He is a director on a number of institutions including the Public Investment Corporation (PIC).

Says MTN Group President and CEO, Mr Phuthuma Nhleko: “We are pleased to have someone of Ignatius’s caliber join the MTN Group. We welcome him to the MTN family and wish him all the success as he embarks on his new role as Regional VP SEA.”

In another development, MTN has announced that Ms Santie Botha, Group Chief Marketing Officer, is leaving MTN after seven years of service to pursue new endeavours.

“Santie has made a most appreciated contribution to the Group, assisting to embed the MTN brand across the Group’s footprint, culminating with MTN being one of the sponsors of the successful 2010 FIFA World Cup™,” says Nhleko.
