[Kenya] KAM partners with Sainath Institute to address skills gap in the drive textile industry

Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has inked a partnership deal with Sainath Education Institute to address skills gap within the Textiles and Apparel Sector.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two organizations shall work together to improve the employability of youth, women and persons living with disabilities within the manufacturing space. The organizations shall collaborate to enhance the productivity of the sector’s workforce, create a pool of skilled employees within the sector and nurture skills that can be used by trainees to support their own entrepreneurs.

In 2018, KAM conducted a skills gaps analysis to understand the human capacity within the textiles and apparel sector and inform skills demand forecasting. From the recommendations, there was a need for the sector to have skilled labour to support the current and future demand. More so as the sector seeks to expand into the export markets.

The partnership shall be implemented through KAM’s Manufacturing Academy. The Academy is an arm of KAM Consulting that provides technical and/or specialized and management training and services that are aimed at ensuring the Manufacturing industry continuously inspires global competitiveness.
