Govt Lauds Dangote for Sponsoring Calabar Festival

Cross Rivers State Government has expressed profound appreciation to the management of Dangote Group for the yearly sponsorship of the children’s arm of the Calabar carnival.

In a press statement issued yesterday, Chairman of the Carnival Commission, Gabe Onah, described Dangote Group as a worthy partner towards helping children discover their talents and skills.

The Group, according to him “has consistently been part of the carnival and has for a very long time been the sole sponsor of the children’s carnival

“Dangote Group has elected to be the sole sponsor of the 2012 Calabar Children’s Carnival and had provided the outfit for about 9,000 children and officials participating in the dry run (rehearsal) as well as all the refreshment for all the participants.

The dry run gave residents of Calabar a glimpse of what the children’s carnival would look like with thousands of children clad in Dangote-branded T-shirt parading the streets, during the carnival.

The dry run involved several groups of children of different ages who paraded the four-kilometer distance from the Botanical Garden located near the Mary Slessor roundabout through barracks road and terminating at the Esuene Stadium.

The children who were full of excitement paraded and danced to the music being supplied from over a dozen Dangote branded open vans and trucks equipped with hi-fi sound systems and disc jockeys adorning Dangote beach umbrellas.

They were grouped according to age groups and further distinguished by the colour of their T-shirts.

The welfare unit of the Carnival Commission clad also in Dangote branded T-shirts established various serving points along the dry run route where the participating kids were served refreshing portions of various products from the Group.
