“Expect Change in ICT in Africa” Says ICT Africa Summit 2010 Organizer
ICT AFRICA SUMMIT is an event promoting ICT as a means to accelerate economic development in Africa under the theme “Regional Integration through ICT networks.”
200 high level delegates and 25exhibitors are expected to take part in a well-placed agenda ,which will include plenary sessions, thematic breakaway sessions, ministerial forums, and one-to-one business meetings between participants and ICT Africa Summit 2010 exhibitors.
ICT Africa Summit 2010 welcome note will be done by Mr. Johnny Aucamp from MTN. MTN is the Platinum sponsor of the summit. Other key note speakers are Mr. Peter Masemola from CISCO Systems, who will be speaking on Changing Africa through the development of broadband infrastructure and ICT.
Mrs. Joy–Marie Lawrence, General Manager of Western Cape at Business Connexion, will be addressing women in IT. Mr. Risto Ojanpera, Vice President of Business Consulting at Elisa, will address improving the future with digitally supported service delivery platforms. Mr. Hadebe from the Presidential National Commission will also tackle the same issue.
Other major topics that will be covered are “bridging the digital divide using solar powered rural internet kiosks and financing ICT infrastructure in Africa”.
Some of the breakaway sessions are e Governance and eLearning (Kasperskey Lab), Information Society (INSIRE), and sessions led by Woolworths and The Silicon Cape Initiative.
Ministerial forums are one of the main focuses of the summit. Some of the ministries that will be present are the Ministry of Information and Civic Education of Malawi, lead by the Deputy Minister, Honourable Trasizio Tommie Gowelo; the Ministry of Information and Communications, Democratic Republic of Congo; the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Zambia, lead by Honourable Minister, Professor Geoffrey Lungwangwa; Ministry of ICT of Zimbabwe, lead by the Honourable Minister Nelson Chamisa ; and Ministry of Telecommunication of Nigieria, lead by Honourable Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku.
The programme for the ICT Africa Summit is set to run over a period of three days with the first day being dedicated to registration and the remaining two days focused on the different presentations and break away sessions.
The summit is set to bring about a change in ICT in Africa.
The successful execution of the programme will require the mobilization of a broad spectrum of resourceful actors and stakeholders both in Africa and the rest of the world.
