Edge-Core Networks’ adds an online edge to product portfolio

ICEcat.biz – online content free for all Edge-Core, SMC Networks channel partners
Edge-Core Networks Corporation, a global networking solution provider offering a complete range of enterprise-level and service provider/carrier Ethernet networking equipment and services to customers and partners around the world, has announced the majority of current Edge-Core and SMC products have now been uploaded to ICEcat.biz, the leading online product content provider for the IT, Telecom, and Consumer Electronics industries.

Product content includes marketing texts, specifications, pictures, and PDFs.

The free open ICEcat service was launched in December 2005 and is currently supported by more than 160 manufacturers, including Edge-Core and SMC Networks.

ICEcat, a multilingual worldwide open catalog, allows channel partners and end users to gather timely, accurate information and conduct comparisons easily and quickly, free of charge. The content is currently used in more than 5000 web shops, comparison sites, and ERP systems.

“In the past, our channel partners and customers had to get materials manually from the Edge-Core website, various partner portals, or from individual sales personnel. This was not always the most efficient process,” explained Frank Emmerlich, Edge-Core Networks’ European Marketing Manager. "The open ICEcat solution is the most user-friendly option available in the market today. Our channel partners can be confident the product information found there is correct and up-to-date.”

According to Jo Chang, Edge-Core Networks’ European Product Manager, “one of the main reasons Edge-Core decided to join ICEcat is to enable channel partners with on-line presence to present the complete product portfolios of Edge-Core and SMC Networks in a consistent way, using an attractive and easy-to-use database. We also recognize ICEcat offers our partners outstanding up and cross-sell opportunities, a true win-win scenario for all concerned. And the fact that it is completely funded by the vendors, not the channel partners, means this service is more apt to be really used, thereby increasing the likelihood of increased channel sales for partners and Edge-Core Networks.”

South African channel partners also stand to benefit from this digital communication forum and from the free online content says Paul Luff, country manager, Edge-Core Networks South Africa.

“The domestic channel covering the supply and integration of network solutions is an increasingly competitive area of business,” says Luff. “Edge-Core Networks has an established global presence and a close relationship with its partnership network. This is strong, informative and reliable means of adding value.”
