Edge-Core Networks powers local desktop connectivity with PoE Ethernet switches
Edge-Core Networks, through its South African distribution partner, Miro Distribution, has readied two Desktop Fast Ethernet PoE switch solutions for release into the local market.
The Edge-Core ES3528MF-PoE and ES3528M-PoE are fast Ethernet layer 2 standalone switches that are designed to facilitate Ethernet connectivity to the desktop.
These solutions have also been developed to power devices such as VoIP phones, wireless access points and IP cameras.
The two products feature 24 10/1000 Base-TX, two 10/1000/10000 Base-T RJ-45 and two gigabit combo ports. They deliver data and power simultaneously over existing CAT 5 cables. As a result the switch delivers wire-speed switching performance on all ports. IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol provides a loopfree network and redundant links to core networks with rapid convergence to ensure faster recovery from failed links, enhancing overall network stability and reliability.
IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) increases bandwidth by automatically aggregating several physical links together as a logical trunk and provides load balancing and fault tolerance for uplink connection.
IGMP snooping prevents flooding of IP multicast traffic and limits bandwidth intensive video traffic to only the subscribers
Each switch also has IP clustering management to support up to 36 switches using a single IP address.
Miro Distribution has an established domestic network, covering major urban areas of the country. This network will be used, along with the distributor's exports division to sub-Saharan Africa, to roll these solutions out.
The company is an authorized distributor of several established brands as part of its product portfolio.
The portfolio includes Voice over IP, IP Security, Wired Networking products, Indoor, Outdoor and Carrier-Class Wireless, Antennas as well as Utilities to help with any installation.
Management at Edge-Core believes the ES3528MF-PoE and ES3528M-PoE solutions represent a massive contribution towards enhanced local network performance.
"If one considers the development of the local network and the need for improved connectivity at the desktop to allow users to leverage off multimedia communication, these solutions are ideally suited and will make a lasting difference to users," says Paul Luff, country manager, Edge-Core Networks.
