EABL unveils The New 2010 CECAFA TUSKER CUP
East Africa Breweries Ltd, through their Tusker Brand, East Africa’s leading Lager, have announced their long-term support for football in the Eastern Africa region.
Speaking to the press at Tusker House, EABL Group Managing Director, Seni Adetu said that EABL was fully committed to supporting the passions of their consumers through the five East African countries where EABL currently operates. “EABL and Tusker are now present in South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania and the one passion that our consumers share across these regions is FOOTBALL,” Adetu said. “Our support for the upcoming CECAFA TUSKER CUP signals the start of a long term strategy that EABL will engage with the singular aim of promoting football in the region and for ensuring that an East African team qualifies for the World Cup 2014.”
Noting that none of the East African teams qualified for the 2010 World Cup or even the 2010 African Cup of Nations, Adetu said that EABL was committed to playing a pivotal role in raising the standards of football in the region. “For several years, EABL has been a great supporter of sports and football in the region, and our assurance to the football fraternity is that as a firm we will play our part, offer our assistance, monetary and otherwise, to support the game of football in East Africa,” Adetu added. “In the mid-term, we would like to see a team from this region qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and in the long-term we would like to see increased standards of football in Eastern Africa; our teams deserve to have better FIFA rankings.”
