EABL Foundation and Serengeti Breweries Ltd Commission Optical Centre in Moshi
Thousands of people in Moshi area will now benefit from a newly constructed Optical Centre after it was commissioned by Prime Minister, Hon. Mizengo Pinda.
The model facility costing approximately Tzs 264.6 million was funded by the EABL Foundation and is expected to benefit over 300,000 residents. The facility was later handed over to Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) which was represented by the Executive Director, Mr. Moshi Ntabaye. KCMC will be managing the institution.
Speaking when he commissioned the facility, Hon. Pinda thanked EABL Foundation and the Serengeti Breweries Limited for investing in the town and largely in the country, saying the facility was going to ease the congestion currently experienced in the main KCMC facility.
“On behalf of the community members, I wish to thank the sponsors for bringing services closer to the community through such investments. The Optical Centre will reduce risks associated with eye problems,” said Hon. Pinda.
The Optical Centre includes an optical workshop that will serve as an optometry centre as well as an eye unit for offering eye examination services and treatment.
Also present during the occasion was Serengeti Breweries Limited’s (SBL) MD Mr. Richard Wells who revealed that the facility was part of SBL and indeed EABL Foundation’s commitment in promoting better services in the community. “We are glad to note that the facility will offer dedicated medical assistance and surgery, thereby offering hope and creating a new way of life to many people that suffer from eye problems.”, said Mr. Wells. He appealed to the residents to make good use of the facilities and to maintain them well given the high investment.
Also present during the occasion were several dignitaries including Minister for Industry, Hon. Cyril Chami. They urged other corporates to come together in promoting services in the area.
