Chad invites Angola to explore oil

Chad has sent an invitation to Angola to explore oil in the country, Angola’s President João Lourenço has said.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Chadian counterpart Idriss Débi Into, Mr. Lourenço said the invitation was made during talks between the delegations of the two countries in order to strengthen economic cooperation relations between the two states.

During the talks, the two countries signed a "memorandum of understanding for economic cooperation" and a "verbal process".

João Lourenço added that Angolan businessmen were also invited to invest in agriculture and industry in Chad, a country with about 100 million head of cattle, for a population of almost 15 million.

It encouraged trade, particularly in the purchase of meat for consumption, as it was considered cheaper compared to other regions of the world, as well as the purchase of live breeding species.

The Head of State said that the two countries will continue to mature the conditions for the opening of diplomatic missions.

In his turn, Chad's President stressed that the economic approach could already be in the path of African regional integration and in the spirit of inter-aid for the sustainable development of the respective nations.

It challenged the business community of both countries to promote effective economic cooperation, with gains for both economies and peoples.

Both states have a cooperation framework that focuses on various areas, with particular emphasis on the exchange of information at political and diplomatic level.

Angola has been an important partner for Chad, with the support of several organizations to which both countries belong, with emphasis on the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region and the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC).
