The United Bank for Africa, UBA Cameroon, has built an ultra-modern business office in the University of Douala designed to provide modern banking services to students, staff and other esteemed customers.

While inaugurating the “NextGen” Business Office in Douala, in the presence of the Rector of the University of Douala, Professor Francoise Xavier Etoa, the Regional Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa Francophone, Emeke Iweriebor, said the partnership, which has birth an ultra-modern business office, is based on the trust and the confidence vested on the bank by the University of Douala.

Going by him, the project has been realized, thanks to the 10 year old mutually beneficial partnership between UBA Cameroon and the University of Douala and the desire that the over 40,000 students and 5000 staff of the university make good use of the business center. “Students of University of Douala are the best and the University has also distinguished itself in Cameroon and the world. This business center will provide prepaid card services and other electronic solutions, top notch modern banking services and free internet to all students and staff”.

He also added that the bank will as of this year, January 2, 2018 receive 10 students on internship.

In the end, the Regional Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa Francophone, stated that “The UBA believes in education; we support and finance education because it provides a platform for growth and development. Any community with good education is liberated.”

For his part, the Rector of the University of Douala, Professor Francoise Xavier Etoa, said the University is proud to be the first to have such an edifice. “We believe we deserve it. You said something important; that my students are powerful. Yes they are very smart” he quipped. Professor Xavier Etoa equally lauded the UBA initiative, revealing that the Minister of Higher Education is pleased with the move.

The University of Douala NextGen Business Office constructed on approximately 500 sqm, is the first of its kind to be built on a University Campus by UBA, not only in Cameroon but in all 19 countries where the bank operates. It is equipped with two large banking halls, garden with Wifi and the availability of free clean water to customers and inhabitants of the surrounding neighborhood.
