[Côte d'Ivoire] Sixty villages connected to the electricity grid

Sixty villages in Man's department in the Tonkpi region of Côte d'Ivoire have emerged from darkness as part of the rural electrification component of the 137-year-old Transport and Distribution Grid Reinforcement Project (PRETD), which has been funded to support , 82 million euros by the African Development Bank Group.

Ultimately, this project, approved in 2016, will have electrified 252 rural communities in the Mountain District.

The Bank is in its third operation in support of the Government of Côte d'Ivoire. On November 7, 2018, it approved a loan of € 42 million to finance the Rural Electricity Access Improvement Project, which is part of the National Rural Development Program. Rural electrification (PRONER) developed by the Ivorian government in 2013.

The project objective is the electrification of 426 localities in three districts of northern Côte d'Ivoire, for a total of 42 million euros. These 426 localities will be added to the 50 localities already electrified as part of the Côte d'Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea Sub-Regional Interconnection Project (CLSG) approved in 2013, and to the 252 localities currently being electrified. the framework of the PRETD.

At the end of the third project, the Bank will have contributed to the financing of the electrification of 728 rural localities out of the 2,112 localities envisaged by the Ivorian government program. And will have supported the financing of PRONER to the tune of 87.3 million euros, or nearly 30% of the resources mobilized by all the technical and financial partners involved in this program.
