Angola legalizes 55 institutions of higher learning

Angola has 55 higher education institutions legalized for this academic year, according to the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio da Silva.

According to the official, who spoke on the preparation of this academic year, these institutions offer 624 courses for the thousands of candidates who sought to continue their academic education in Angola.

He added that only 100 of the 144 illegal institutions were able to regularize their courses.

Eugénio da Silva also said that the government, through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, is working to find a solution for students trained in illegal institutions.

Among the legal institutions are the universities Agostinho Neto (UAN), José Eduardo dos Santos (UJES), Mandume, Katiavala Buila, Lueji (all of the public system), Óscar Ribas, Catholic, Methodist, Metropolitan, Utanga, Gregorio Semedo, among others of the private system.

For this academic year, UAN offers more than 5,000 places in its 45 courses.
