Angola government invests $2 million in industrial park

At least 636.9 million kwanzas, approximately $2 million, are being invested by the Angolan Government in the construction of the rural industrial park of the municipality of Andulo, Bié province, announced by the Secretary of State for Industry, Ivan do Prado. within 12 months

The rural industrial park of Andulo starts operating in 2020 and in a first phase the project will guarantee direct employment to 20 young people and more than a thousand indirect ones.

The project will have an execution period of 12 months and will be executed in an area of 10 hectares, according to the secretary, who spoke to Angop, at the ceremony to launch the first stone to start the work.

Industrial units will be deployed to transform cassava, maize into fuba, animal feed and motorcycle assembly, administrative area, central power generation and water supply.

On the occasion, the secretary of state said that the project will be implemented in the municipalities of Cacuso (Malanje), Tomboco (Zaire) and Canjala (Benguela) in a first phase up to 2020 and will have private sector partnership.

Without advancing the value needed for the investment, he recalled that the rural industrial parks will have industrial units for the transformation of cassava, maize into fuba, animal feed, motorcycle workshops among others.

The idea, according to the Secretary of State for Industry, is to allow each park built to have more than 20 direct and one thousand indirect jobs, especially for youth.
He said that the implementation of industrial parks will stimulate peasants to increase agricultural production as well as diversification of the national economy.
Meanwhile, the municipal administrator of Andulo, Celeste Adolfo Elavoko stressed the importance of the rural industrial park, for encouraging the increase of agricultural production of peasants.

With a population of 258 thousand and 161 inhabitants, mostly peasants, the Agriculture sector in the municipality of Andulo, controls more than 200 farmers associations, seven agricultural cooperatives, with 65 thousand families with arable land to practice agriculture.
In the agricultural year 2018/2019, in the municipality of Andolo were cultivated one hundred thousand and 783 hectares, hand-cleared, plus seven thousand hectares in relation to the previous campaign.

In the municipality of Andulo are cultivated corn, cassava, beans, ginguba, soy, sweet potatoes and reindeer potatoes, sesame and various vegetables.
