Angola and Russia strengthen cooperation with ten new agreements

Cooperation between Angola and Russia is set to be strengthened with the signing of ten new agreements in different economic and social areas, as part of the four-day official visit by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to that country located in the north of Eurasia.

The information was provided by Angolan Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto, noting that one of the objectives of this understanding is the attraction of Russian private investment.

So far, continued the head of Angolan diplomacy, cooperation between the two countries girdled between state-owned enterprises in the fields of the military and the diamond industry.

In order to encourage Russian private sector companies to invest in Angola and in the framework of President João Lourenço's visit to Angola, a business forum is scheduled to be held with businessmen from both countries.

Three hundred Russian businessmen are taking part in a business forum in Luanda, with the hope of expanding their investments and participating in the diversification of the Angolan economy.

Speaking to the forum, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Private Investment Promotion Agency, Licínio de Freitas Vasconcelos, told the Angolan press in Moscow that Russia will be represented at the event with businessman related to the mining, fishing industry and transformative.

Angola and Russia, partners in the political and diplomatic fields, have trade far short of the real potential of both countries.

By way of illustration, on the basis of the records of three years ago, trade reached only $500 million in 2016, a volume 15 times higher than the value recorded in 2012 of $25 million.
