Air Nigeria set to launch flights to Sao Tome & Principe
Air Nigeria, the country’s fully private sector flag carrier, is set to launch flight operations to Sao Tome via Douala and Libreville, in continuation of its regional routes network roll out. The launch of the new route is coming just as Air Nigeria recently introduced direct flights between Abuja and Enugu as well as Abuja and Owerri on the domestic route network.
The new flight which will be inaugurated on August 18 is in line with Air Nigeria’s route expansion plan to further strengthen cultural and economic ties amongst African states, especially as the airline is building a hub at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos to seamlessly offer connections to passengers across West and Central Africa.
The launch of the Lagos – Sao Tome route brings to 100, the number of regional routes operated by Air Nigeria in Africa as it currently operates to some capital cities across the West coast and the central African region. Sao Tome is an island in Central Africa that has a rich reserve of natural resources and is predominantly a holiday resort with vast expanse of beautiful beaches.
Air Nigeria is one of the fastest growing airlines in West Africa and is at the forefront of offering onward seamless connections to passengers through its codeshare and interline partners. Also, the airline offers innovative and customer friendly products such as its recently introduced mobile ticketing service known as MY AIRMOBILE. In recognition of its outstanding contributions towards development of the Nigerian aviation industry, Air Nigeria clinched the “Airline of the Year 20100” at the Nigeria Aviation Awards (NIGAV).
Also, Air Nigeria was adjudged Best Airline in Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Development at the CSR Nigeria award that held recently in Lagos.
Air Nigeria and Delta Airlines recently commenced a codeshare that enables Air Nigeria to place its code on Delta-operated services between Lagos and Atlanta as well as Abuja and New York/JFK via Accra, Ghana, to further complements the objective of the airline in providing easy and convenient air services for passengers flying between West Africa and the U.S.A.
From its operational base at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, Air Nigeria currently operates to Benin City, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Kano, Sokoto and Enugu on the domestic routes while it also operates to Brazzaville, Accra, Douala, Dakar, Monrovia, Cotonou, Banjul, Libreville and Abidjan with further plans to extend services to more African destinations, Europe, Asia and America.
